Happy Holidays / Auguri

After having almost disappeared from the web and being isolated from the rest of the world, mum and dad finally decided to let me update my blog. Our first and 1/2 months of Tunisian experience has been very hectic and fun. We are now in Italy, for a well deserved vacation from furnishing our new house, from Dad's crazy working schedule, from our constant struggles with the awful Tunisan services (we are still struggling to get internet connection at home) and holidays (during the Heid, the city was completely desert and we could not even find bread around). Dopo esser spariti dal web e isolati dal resto del mondo, mamma e papà mi hanno finalmente lasciato aggiornare il mio blog. Il nostro primo mese e mezzo di esperienza tunisia sono stati un sacco divertenti...ma anche impegnativi. Siam ora in Italia, dove ci stiam rilassando, lontani dalle preoccupazione dell'arredamento di casa, dagli orari folli del lavoro di papà, dall'inefficienza dei servizi tunisini (ancora nonsiamo riusciti a installare internet a casa) e dalle feste tunisine (durante l'Heid, non si trovava nemmeno il pane a Tunisi, tanto la città era deserta). Fatemi dunque augurare a tutti delle vacanze bellisisme e un fantastico 2008. Vi allego la foto del mio nuovo cappello da Babbo Natale e del nostro piccolo presepe tunisino

Our first stroll in the medina

Finally Mum and Dad took me to the medina of Tunis. I also did my own shopping. Check out my new umbrella. This will prorect me from the several rains we encountered this month, but most importantly....from the several spontaneous kisses I constantly receive from strangers in the street. It looks like it is a Tunisian tradition.

Finalmente mamma e papà mi hanno portato nella medina di Tunisi. Anche io ho fatto un poò di acquisti, come questo nuovo ombrello che mi protegge dalle tante pioggie che ci sono state questo mese...ma soprattutto dalla montagna di baci che ricevo da sconosciuti per strada. Sembra che sia una tradizione tunisina, quella di sbaciucchiare i bambini degli altri

Zio Simone in town

After less than 2 weeks in Tunis, we had our first our guest in Tunis: Uncle Simone!! He only spent 3 days with us, yet I kept him quite busy. Check out this VIDEO

Tunis!!!

After a 20 hours of endless ferry boat ride from Rome to Tunis, my Dad has finally reached the city, where we will spend quite some time, In'shallah. He went on his own (thanks God, I am taking a quick plane!!), with our new 4x4 car fully loaded with Italian food and wine, as well as plenty of clothes and toys. Even such a big car looked small. He went to Sidi Bou Said for the first month, while looking for a nice place for all of us

Dopo 20 ore di interminabile traghetto da Roma a Tunisi, papà ha finalmente raggiunto la città dove staremo per un bel po', In'shallah . He andato da solo (io e mamma ce la siamo schivata, e andremo comodamente con l'aereo !!) con la nostra nuova 4X4 , stracolpma di cibo e vini italiani, oltre che vestiti e giocattoli, tipo Totò a Milano. Persino un macchinone come il nostro sembrava piccolo! E' andato a stare a Sidi Bou Said per il primo mese, in attesa di trovareci una casa per tutti noi

Greetings from Rome

After travelling South of Italy, I am back in Rome, playing with my cousins from the capital city. We are testing a new special aircraft...after all those flights, I start thinking that my parents want me to become a pilot

My first time on the Amalfi Coast

Mum and Dad took me to the Amalfi Coast for my first vacation down there. It was not hot enough to go to the beach, but I just loved the view of teh ocean from Ravello. Dad was at a conference on some boring stuff, so I spent quite some time with Mum...finally!!

Last day in DC / L'ultimo giorno a DC

The party is over, the movers have come, bags are ready, so are we, passports and tickets at hand, we wake up in an empty home, with a mix of feeling between excitment for our new adventure and malincony for what we are leaving behind. 6 years of adventures, plenty of friends and great memories. Our last great memory comes very unexpected. The Capobianco family shows up in the morning and fills the house with fantastic breakfast and with their presence. There is no chair where to sit and our empy living room becomes our breakfast table. The house seems small again, with Alice and I running around for one more time in the so called Kibuz at q street. Thank God they gave me a teddy bear with our picture printed on it, so I will never forget Alice, my first love, and the wonderful Italian Zios



La festa e' finita, e cosi' pure il trasloco, le valigie sono pronte e lo siamo anche noi, passaporti e biglietti alla mano, la nostra casa vuota ...piena solo di tante emozioni, malinconia per un ennesimo addio dopo sei anni di esperienze indimenticabili, ed eccitamento per l'inizio della nuova avventura. Un ultima bellissima sorpresa inaspettata: I Capobelski appaiono alla porta e riempiono il soggiorno con una fantastica colazione e col calore della loro amicizia. Non abbiamo sedie ne' un tavolo... ma il carpet si trasforma in un prato per il pic-nic improvvisato. La casa sembra di nuovo troppo piccola: Alice ed io corriamo da tutte le parti ancora una volta, nel Kibbutz di Q street. Grazie al cielo mi hanno regalato un bellissimo orsacchiotto con la loro fotografia ... cosi' non potro' dimenticare Alice: il mio primo amore, ed i miei fantastici zii italiani. GRAZIE!!!

Goodbye Washington

We could not have hoped for a better farewell. Our good-bye party at Montrose Park was just awesome! We lost the cont of the number of people who came, but our best estimate is that we reached 100 people, including 15 kids or more. Great thanks to everyone who came and contributed in several ways. Carlo, Leonardo and Adrian did an amazing job at the barbecue, Simone, the unofficial photographer, took great pics (we will post a videoclip on this page, so stay tuned) and many others contributed with food, but also manpower (special thanks to all those who stayed until dark to help cleaning up the place....and making sure no food was left on the barbecue).

Thanks to all those who brought their kids. As you can see from the pic below, it seems they had even more fun than their parents




We just remained speachless, happy but also a bit sad. We will really miss all of you!!!!

Breaking news!!

Dopo circa 6 anni la Fam. Santi-Russo lascia Washington DC e si trasferisce.....IN TUNISIA!!!!
Mamma e papa' sono in fibrillazione, non fanno altro che spostare cose in casa e correre da tutte le parti con pacchi e pacchetti. Mi hanno detto che tra poco andremo a stare in un posto dove non dovro' mettere il piumone per uscire d'inverno (che fortuna) e potro' passare tantissimo tempo a mangiae sabbia e fare bagnetti al mare, non vedo l'ora!!!

After 6 years in Washington DC, the Santi-Ruso family will move on....to TUNISIA. Mum and Dad are going crazy, moving things around and running all over the place. They told me that soon I will be in a place where I would not need a coat during the winter and I would be able to spend lots of time eating sand an woking on my tanning. I really look forward to it. Nonni in DC !

After many phone calls and several efforts in trying to convince them to come to DC, they finally made it...and I must say, I found them in great shape

After spending some time on the beach, Mum and Dad took me to Malibu to run up and down on on a beautiful dock.

Santa Monica - California

Ops, where did Mum and Dad take me? What is all that sand! Santa Monica has been a great discovery! I spent all my time eating sand (Check out my video), playing with Daddy or eating my first ice-creams!!!.


Ops, ma dove mi han portato mamma e papa'? Che cos'e' tuta questa sabbia. Santa Monica e' stata una grande scoperta. Ho passato un sacco di tempo a mangiare sabbia (guardami nel mio video), a giocare con papa' e soprattutto a mangiare i miei primi gelati!!!!

We are ready to go / Si parte

Mum and Dad really needed a Break. On the 28th, Mum will celebrate .... years (shhhhh!! she does not want everyone to know) and on July 1th we will celebrate their 2nd wedding anniversary...thanks God they did get married, I would say. What better place to go than California!! I am very excited and look forward to a long and fun trip

My 1st Birthday / Il mio primo compleanno

Wow, 1 year has already gone by and I am back again in Modena, where I was baptized a few months earlier. Time is running so fast and I am growing up at a tremendous pace. We had a great fun with family members and friends from the entire country flocking for such a great moment and be ready to accompany me on in every important step of his growth....including a little help on blowing the candles




Incredibile, e' gia' passato un anno e il tempo sembra volare da quando sono uscito dalla pancia della mamma. Sono di nuovo a Modena pochi mesi dopo il battesimo. Ci siam divertiti un casino, con parenti e amici giunti da tutta Italia e pronti ad accompagnarmi Edo in ogni momento importante della mia vita...come spegnere le candeline
